With their overall point streak still intact, the Anaheim Ducks can focus on their attempt of a club milestone.
The Ducks look for a franchise-record 12th straight home victory Monday night when they try to hand the San Jose Sharks a season-high fifth straight road loss.
Though its five-game winning streak ended with a 2-1 overtime defeat at St. Louis on Saturday, Anaheim (20-3-4) is 7-0-3 since a 5-2 loss at Los Angeles on Feb. 25.
With 44 points, the Ducks are five behind NHL-leading Chicago in the Western Conference.
"For the team just to play as good as they've been playing consistently is pretty amazing to me," Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said.
A big reason for the Ducks' success is the 11-game home winning streak that followed a 5-0 loss to Vancouver in their opener at the Honda Center. It's the second time Anaheim has won 11 straight at home, where it opens a five-game run that begins and ends with San Jose (12-9-6).
The teams already split a pair of one-goal games this season but the Ducks earned three points in those meetings and won 2-1 at home Feb. 4.
Saku Koivu had the tying goal in that contest as the Ducks scored two third-period goals to overcome a 1-0 deficit. Koivu snapped a six-game goal drought Saturday, but the Blues turned a Teemu Selanne turnover into the winning goal 45 seconds into overtime.
"It was a very well played game," Boudreau said. "They got the break at the end of the game. We make an error, they capitalize on it.
"We had chances to score. It didn't go our way."
Anaheim stars Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf both failed to register a point on the Ducks' 2-0-1 trip. However, Getzlaf has six goals with 12 assists during a 10-game home point streak and Ryan has two scores with four assists in his last five in Anaheim.
Jonas Hiller, who stopped 63 of 65 on the first two games of the trip before making 19 saves Saturday, has a 2.14 goals-against average during a six-game home winning streak. He made 16 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss at San Jose on Jan. 29.
Rookie Viktor Fasth stopped 25 shots at home against the Sharks, but is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Anaheim has won two straight and six of eight at home against the Sharks.
San Jose split a home-and-home set with Los Angeles after falling 5-2 on the road Saturday. The Sharks are in the midst of a 1-3-2 stretch, which includes being outscored 16-7 during a four-game road slide (0-3-1).
The Sharks have not dropped five straight regular-season road games since an 0-4-2 stretch from Oct. 24-Nov. 26, 2010.
San Jose fell behind 2-0 on Saturday, but got within one before allowing the Kings to score the final three goals of the second period.
"If you don't have an 'A' game, you have to have a 'B' game. Some guys had their 'D' game," said Sharks captain Joe Thornton, who has an assist in four straight games. "At this level, that just can't happen against elite teams.
"We've to forget about it and go to Anaheim and get points there."
San Jose's Logan Couture was held without a point Saturday after recording four goals and an assist in the previous four. He's scored in both games versus Anaheim.
Antti Niemi has a 3.64 GAA while going 1-2-1 in his last five starts, where he's been pulled twice. He made 28 saves against the Ducks in January and has a 1.76 GAA while splitting his four career starts at Anaheim.
