Patriots defensive snaps: Rookie CB J.C. Jackson is one obvious bright spot as his workload expands (57) and the moment doesn't seem too big for him against top competition. The Patriots played a lot of dime defense (6 DBs) in the game.

Patriots offensive snaps: Just 62 total, with the primary grouping the 3-WR set with Chris Hogan as the third option. James White (25), Sony Michel (23) and Rex Burkhead (16) splitting RB workload.

Quick-hit personnel thoughts: UP — CB Stephon Gilmore (vs. Antonio Brown 4/49/1); CB J.C Jackson (vs. JuJu Smith-Schuster 4/40); punt team (stellar goal-line play); WR Cordarrelle Patterson (clutch third-down conversion); DOWN — Trent Brown/offensive line (multiple penalties), WR drops (Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon among them); offensive coaching; run defense (142 yards for Jaylen Samuels).

Saturday: Patriots are getting sped up (1:00)

Pittsburgh sportsbook sees bigger bets on Pats

A new sportsbook down the street from Heinz Field in Pittsburgh saw more money wagered on the Patriots than the Steelers, though 83 percent of money-line bets were on the hometown team.

The Patriots trail the Steelers 14-7 at the half, as the defense settled down after a slow start to keep things from getting out of hand. But as the defense figured some things out, the Tom Brady-led offense sputtered after a strong start of its own, which has resulted in a disjointed performance in a competitive game. The Patriots' special teams, headlined by a downed punt at the 1, have been stellar.

Chris Hogan had 19.2 yards of separation from any defender when he caught that touchdown pass, making him the most wide-open receiver on a reception this season per the NFL's Next-Gen Stats. The Steelers just totally blew that coverage against a simple scissors route combination from the Pats.

With the Vikings beating the Dolphins, it means the Patriots can clinch the AFC East championship with a win over the Steelers. Also, it highlights how the four teams that beat the Patriots lost the following week, as they found it hard to match the level it took to take down New England.
