Report card: High marks for Lions in free agency

Not only did Bob Quinn add good pieces, but his strategy fits well with the strengths and weaknesses of the 2017 draft pool. Only two teams earned better grades.

Sean Payton on what the Saints like about new guard Larry Warford: "He's got ass and mass." Payton laughed but said, "That's important." Payton also said Warford is a hard worker and Saints QB coach Joe Lombardi worked with him as the former Lions offensive coordinator. Payton also said his vision for new WR Ted Ginn is "crystal clear." Likes that Ginn has played his best football in second half of career, has a level of toughness and, "He's still the fastest player on the field."

Lions coach Jim Caldwell, at the coaches breakfast, said Green Bay is "still going to be a very good team. It's not a newsflash." The Lions took OG T.J. Lang from the Packers this offseason. Caldwell said "you absolutely better believe it," though, that Caldwell likes the makeup of his Lions team.

Lions prez says stance on DV hasn't changed

Detroit Lions team president Rod Wood told reporters in Arizona on Tuesday night the franchise's zero tolerance policy on domestic violence hasn't changed.

Lions team president Rod Wood told reporters in Arizona that GM Bob Quinn will be at Tennessee pro day. That's where potential first round pick Derek Barnett and running back Alvin Kamara will be working out.

Lions GM Bob Quinn told his team's website that the franchise is in the "very early stages" of negotiating a contract extension with quarterback Matthew Stafford. He said the process will take "months, not weeks." Stafford is entering the final year of his contract in 2017.

According to reporters at the league meetings, Lions GM Bob Quinn said he did not meet with RB Joe Mixon at Oklahoma pro day, that was RB coach David Walker.

Free agent OT Nick Becton visited with the Lions according to ESPN Insider Field Yates. Becton had last been with Chicago and before that New Orleans and what was San Diego (now Los Angeles).

Jabrill Peppers said he understands questions about him as a safety because there is little tape there. One team told him they saw him at LB and one on offense. He met with Tampa today, New Orleans and Arizona yesterday and has "23" visits set up.
