FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Folarin Campbell scored a season-high 20 points and led three Patriots in double figures as George Mason beat Dayton 67-56 Saturday.
George Mason's defense limited Dayton to 36 percent shooting, including just 28 percent in the first half. The Patriots have not allowed an opponent to shoot greater than 37 percent this season en route to their first 3-0 start since 1980-81.
Will Thomas recorded his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 17 rebounds, while
Jordan Carter added a career-high 15 points.
Thomas and Campbell fueled a 12-7 spurt in opening minutes of the second half as the Patriots took their largest lead, 41-29, with 13:59 remaining.
George Mason went 21 for 21 from the free throw line, which set a school record.
Brain Roberts, who led Dayton (1-1) with 25 points, scored 14 second-half points and helped the Flyers cut the margin to four points on four occasions.
Carter and Thomas, who combined to score all of George Mason's points in a 12-5 run to close the first half, led the Patriots to a 29-22 halftime lead.
George Mason owned the backboards, out-rebounding the taller Flyers 42-35.
