Hartford has released Pancake Thomas, allowing the scoring guard to transfer wherever he wants for his fifth season. Hartford coach John Gallagher released a statement saying: "Our biggest priority for Cleveland was that he graduate from the University of Hartford with a valuable degree. That happened. Beyond wishing him the very best, we don't comment on other program's players. We are very excited about our group and the upcoming season."

Tom Izzo has played on an aircraft carrier and at military bases. He's visited Rupp Arena and the Dean Dome. In fact the coach who says he will play anyone anywhere has played just about everywhere. But when Penn State coach Patrick Chambers texted Izzo with a pseudo-neutral site league game, Izzo realized he'd never played at the Palestra. Now with the Big Ten signing off on it, Izzo can check the historic gym off his bucket list. Penn State, with six Philly guys on its roster, will host Michigan State on January 7 at the Palestra. "It was a no brainier," Izzo said.
