Lakeland Magic name Heath coach, Parker GM

The Orlando Magic announced former South Florida coach Stan Heath as the head coach of the team's G-League affiliate in Lakeland, Fla., with former Magic veteran Anthony Parker to serve as general manager. Heath spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Boston College after getting fired from USF in 2014.

In addition to announcing the return of Arron Afflalo, the Magic also announced that they've signed free agent Khem Birch. The 6-foot-9 center averaged 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in Greece last season. He played collegiately at Pitt and UNLV.

Former Spurs guard Simmons heading to Magic

Free-agent guard Jonathon Simmons has signed a new contract with the Magic. Terms were not disclosed but sources tell ESPN it will be a three-year deal worth $6.3 million for the first season, $6 million for the second, and $5.7 milllion for the third.

Sources: Mack finalizing 2-year deal with Magic

Shelvin Mack is finalizing a two-year, $12 million contract with the Magic, league sources told ESPN. He will be the first free-agent signing for new Orlando president Jeff Weltman and general manager John Hammond.

Lucas leads Magic to win

Guard Kalin Lucas had 20 points and seven assists in 31 minutes as the Magic improved to 2-2 in Orlando Summer League play on Wednesday with an 84-73 win over the Knicks. Lucas, 28, left Michigan State as a senior in 2011 and spent last season with the D-League's Erie BayHawks.
