Harden, Rockets soar past Wolves 119-100 with 50-point 3rd

James Harden gave Houston quite the jump-start with 22 of the team's 50 points in the third quarter, as the Rockets cruised past the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-100 on Monday night to take a 3-1 lead in their first-round playoff series.

Mike D'Antoni on the Rockets' 50-point third quarter: "It's all adjustments."

Stefano Fusaro ESPN

The Rockets 50 point 3rd quarter obviously did the Wolves in, in their 119-100 defeat. Not a single word was spoken by the Wolves players as they walked to the locker room. Should be an interesting postgame.

James Harden and Chris Paul combined for 37 of the Rockets' 50 points in the third quarter. Houston matched its point total from the first half.

You can forget about Harden's 0 for 7 start. Since then he is 11 for 16....22 of his 34 points have come here in the 3rd quarter. Game 4 is getting away from the Wolves here.

Derrick Rose, the former MVP discarded by two teams this season, is keeping the Timberwolves in the game. He has 11 points in 17 minutes. Minnesota down one at the half.

According to Second Spectrum tracking, Houston Rockets guard James Harden did not make a stepback 3-pointer in either Game 2 or Game 3 against the Minnesota Timberwolves after hitting five in Game 1. That was a factor in Harden shooting a combined 11-of-39 from the field in those two games. He's found the touch again during tonight's Game 4, knocking down a pair of stepback 3s in the second quarter.

Now it's the Rockets PJ Tucker who heads back to the locker room with a leg issue.

James Harden and Chris Paul a combined 0-7 from the floor to start Game 4. Minnesota's defense with Butler, Teague and Wiggins is disrupting the flow of the Rockets offense early on here.

Tim MacMahon ESPN Staff Writer

Karl-Anthony Towns heads to the bench after picking up his second foul at the 9:16 mark of the first quarter. He can't believe he got whistled for an offensive foul.

D'Antoni, Harden: Rockets lack rhythm, in rut

James Harden agreed with coach Mike D'Antoni's assessment that Rockets are out of rhythm. Said Harden: "It's been a long time" since the team was really clicking.

Stefano Fusaro ESPN

The Rockets feel like they haven't come close to playing their best basketball, not only in this series, but Mike D'Antoni said today at practice that "it's been months." He added that it's a product of having the 1 seed virtually locked up since late January. James Harden agreed and said it's been awhile since they've put in a full 48 minute performance on both sides of the ball. Scary thought for the Wolves and the rest of the league.
