Former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will face Dustin Poirier at UFC 211 on May 13 in Dallas.
ESPN.com has confirmed that the 155-pound bout has been verbally agreed to with UFC officials. The UFC 211 pay-per-view will take place inside American Airlines Center.
Alvarez (28-5) hasn't fought since he surrendered the lightweight championship to Conor McGregor at UFC 205 in November. Alvarez lost that fight via second-round knockout.
A Philadelphia native, Alvarez is 3-2 overall in the UFC, with wins over Gilbert Melendez, Anthony Pettis and Rafael dos Anjos.
Poirier (21-5) is coming off a majority decision win over Jim Miller at UFC 208 last month. The 28-year-old suffered a knockout loss to Michael Johnson in September but has won five of his past six overall.
Originally from Louisiana, Poirier trains out of American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida.
A heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic (16-2) and Junior dos Santos (18-4) is scheduled to headline UFC 211.
