Yanks lose four minor leaguers in Rule 5 draft

The Yankees had four players taken in the Rule 5 draft Wednesday, while the O's picked three. The Tigers picked D-backs outfielder Victor Reyes No. 1; LHP/OF Anthony Gose was picked by the Astros, from the Rangers system; and the Royals made two trades.

Brandon Kintzler, who saved 29 games for the Twins this year before going to Washington at the trade deadline and pitching in a setup role, is attracting a crowd on the free agent market. The Cubs, Twins, Diamondbacks, Nationals and Rangers are among the teams with interest. If the Cubs sign Kintzler on top of the Brandon Morrow deal, it will mean they've officially moved on from Wade Davis.

Fister: Happy to get deal with Rangers done

Asked if his experience last season -- he wasn't signed until May -- made him want to move a bit more quickly this offseason, new Rangers RHP Doug Fister said, "I'm sure that it had something to play into all of this."

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Source confirms Doug Fister has agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract, with a team option for 2019, with the Texas Rangers. The 34-year-old right-hander reestablished his value with the Red Sox this past season after signing a minor-league deal with the Angels and getting claimed off waivers in June. Fister posted a 2.79 ERA during a seven-start stretch in place of injured David Price and a 4.71 ERA in 15 starts overall.
