Mets top Nats in Washington (1:03)

The Nationals lost more than a game. In the 9th inning of their 7-5 loss to the Mets, center fielder and leadoff man Adam Eaton had to be carried off the field after appearing to roll his ankle at first base on infield single. Acquired from the White Sox in a December blockbuster trade, Eaton (.291 avg, .392 obp) has been a major spark for the first-place Nats.

Sources: Mets' Cespedes expected to go on DL

Sources say the Mets expect to put Yoenis Cespedes on the DL after the outfielder left Thursday's 7-5 loss to Atlanta in the fourth with what the Mets are calling a left hamstring strain.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

Oh boy. Yoenis Cespedes lines a double in the gap, but pulls up lame into second base and limps very slowly off the field with some help. Doesn't look good. He had recently missed a few games with a hamstring injury. This is on the heels of Noah Syndergaard missing his start today with a dead arm.

ESPN Staff

OF Yoenis Cespedes is back in the Mets' lineup on Tuesday after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury.
