Rarities abound in Twins' rout Sunday

Against the D-backs, the Twins scored nine runs in the first inning of a game for the first time since April 27, 1980 vs. the Athletics. Twins slugger Sano (shin) placed on 10-day DL

Minnesota Twins slugger Miguel Sano was put on the 10-day disabled list with what the team called a stress reaction in his left shin. Sano fouled a ball off his shin on Friday, the same night he hit two home runs in a rout of the Diamondbacks.

Berrios continues winning ways for Twins

With a victory over the D-backs on Saturday, Jose Berrios moved to 11-5 in 18 starts this season. Only three other pitchers in Twins/Senators history, 23 or younger, started a season with as many wins in their first 18 starts: 22-year-old Joe Boehling in 1913 (11-5), 23-year-old Scott Erickson in 1991 (13-3) and 22-year-old Francisco Liriano in 2005 (11-3), the Elias Sports Bureau notes.

Twins feel the home run rhythm on Friday

Nelson Cruz hit a 482-foot moon shot on Friday night while Miguel Sano wasn't far behind with a 469-footer. That was one of two long homers for Sano, who also saw teammate Max Kepler tee off for a deep blast.
