Yulieski Gurriel gives the Astros a 4-1 lead with the biggest hit of his career, a two-out grand slam off a grooved fastball from Junichi Tazawa. The Marlins built their pitching staff around a deep bullpen, but it continues to disappoint. Starter Dan Straily was pulled after just five innings and 63 pitches because of a bruise on his forearm. Hmm.

The Marlins break up the pitcher's duel with Christian Yelich's two-out RBI single off Joe Musgrove in the fifth. If there's any hope for the Marlins, it rests in the offense doing more than it has, including Yelich, who is hitting a solid .289 with five home runs, but should be capable of contending for a batting title as he enters his prime years.
