SS Brendan Rodgers went 2-for-5 with two singles, two strikeouts and a run scored in his Double-A home debut with the Hartford Yard Goats. His final at-bat in the bottom of the eighth was a three-pitch strikeout that ended with the prospect chasing a high heater. Rodgers also had two errors -- that led to three runs -- and a couple of flashy plays in the field to cap off his up-and-down evening.

Rockies trade for Rosscup

The Colorado Rockies have acquired DFA'd LHP Zac Rosscup from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for RHP Matt Carasiti. Rosscup, 29, made just one appearance for the Cubs in 2017, but made 17 appearances at Triple-A this year (2.60 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 39 strikeouts through 27.2 innings pitched). Colorado said Rosscup will be optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Through six innings, Rockies top prospect Brendan Rodgers is 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored in his Double-A home debut. The single and run came as part of a two-run fourth for Hartford.

It's evident why Brendan Rodgers said before tonight's game that the area he wants to work on most for the rest of the season is his defense. He committed his second error of the night in the top of the fourth, leading to two more runs for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Its been an up and down start for Brendan Rodgers. He airmailed a throw to first base in the top of the second inning that led to a run, but bounced back at the plate with his first hit at home and his third since being promoted from Single A in the bottom of the third.

Rodgers' teammates have told him that Hartford's new park, Dunkin' Donuts Park, is the "best place to play at" with the "best fans." During his pregame availability, Rodgers also said he will work on his defense for the rest of the season as he gets reps at both SS and 2B.

Power Rankings: Rockies slip out of top five

Losing back-to-back series to the D-backs and Dodgers took the Rockies down a notch. How long can Colorado afford to wait for Carlos Gonzalez's bat to come to life?

Bellinger hits 2 HRs as Dodgers win 10th in row

The Los Angeles Dodgers found a new way to extend their winning streak to 10 games, scoring five runs on four wild pitches to go along with two more homers from rookie sensation Cody Bellinger in rallying past the Colorado Rockies 12-6 Sunday.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

The Rockies-Dodgers game just turned into one of the strangest and ugliest of the season (well, at least if you're a Rockies fan). At one point over the seventh and eighth innings, the Dodgers scored five straight runs on four wild pitches by Adam Ottavino. That's never happened before. Then, with a 12-6 lead in the ninth, Kenley Jansen issued his first walk of the season after 51 strikeouts. You can't predict baseball!
