White Sox bring Tigers closer to their level

The White Sox know how it feels to lose a no-hit bid on the final out of the game, having suffered such an experience more than any other MLB team. By ending Matthew Boyd's hopes with two outs in the ninth on Sunday, Chicago moved Detroit into second place on that not-so-desirable list.

Thursday's longest home runs

The night's three longest shots all came in the Indians' 11-2 rout of the White Sox, including Jose Abreu's first-inning blast off the Indians' Corey Kluber. Both of Chicago's runs came off solo homers.

Fifteen and counting for the Indians. Cleveland throttled the Chicago White Sox 11-2 on Thursday for their franchise-record 15th straight victory. Corey Kluber struck out 13 for his 14th double-digit whiff game of the season, as the Indians complete a perfect 11-0 road trip.

Cleveland's Corey Kluber has been rolling since allowing two early homers. Now through six, he's up to 13 strikeouts, his 14th double-digit whiff game this season. Only Washington's Max Scherzer has more. Kluber has thrown 82 pitches through six, so he's got a chance to tack on a few more. His career high is 18, set in 2015 against the Cardinals.

We are through four innings in Chicago, with the Indians up 7-2. Cleveland jumped on emergency White Sox starter early, getting homers from Edwin Encarnacion, Francisco Lindor and Erik Gonzalez. Two of Chicago's first three batters -- Yolmer Sanchez and Jose Abreu -- homered off Indians ace Corey Kluber. Kluber was so rattled he's since retired the last 11 Sox batters, eight by strikeout.
