Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber continues to impress with his arm in the outfield. He threw out his 7th runner this season, tied for most in the NL, when Harrison Bader tried to stretch a single into a double in the seventh inning on Sunday. Teams continue to try and run on him and he's come up big with his arm more often than not.

Cubs infielder Javy Baez left Sunday's game after getting hit on or near his left elbow by a pitch from Jack Flaherty in the third inning. Baez was down on the ground being attended to by the Cubs training staff before leaving. Addison Russell entered the game in his place.

Jason Heyward, on hitting a 99 mph Jordan Hicks fastball for a home run, in the Cubs 6-3 win over the Cards: "My hands have to be free. Have to be able to use my hands. Can't try to hit that with my body. You try and do too much then you're not going to be able to make some good contact there and backspin the baseball."

Jason Heyward went deep on a 99.1 mph fastball from Jordan Hicks, making it the hardest pitch he's hit a home run off of in his career. This coming not long after hitting a walk off grand slam at Wrigley Field off lefty Adam Morgan. Heyward has four home runs on the season but has been on a slugging tear of late.

Friday marked just the third time in his career that Javy Baez drew two walks in a game and neither were intentional. The last time he did it was on Aug. 19, 2014. The other time he did it was two days earlier, on Aug. 17, 2014. And then on Friday against the Cardinals. Here was Joe Maddon after the game: “Magnificent. I was calling for the ball after the first one. After the second ball, I thought it was going right to Cooperstown.”
