    Padres-Rockies Preview

For as rough as things have gone for Jorge De La Rosa on the road this season, he's been at his best once again at Coors Field.

Fresh from earning a two-year contract extension, De La Rosa tries to win his seventh straight home start and help the Colorado Rockies hand the San Diego Padres a fourth consecutive defeat Saturday night.

Last season, De La Rosa (13-10, 4.26 ERA) won his final five home starts to go 10-1 with a 2.76 ERA in 14 outings at Coors. He's 9-2 with a 3.19 ERA in 13 this year, won six straight there and posted a 2.36 ERA in the last five.

"I like to pitch here," said De La Rosa, whose 44 wins are the most all-time at Coors Field. "It's a challenge for me every time I pitch here."

Though the left-hander allowed four runs in six innings of a 6-2 loss at Arizona on Sunday to fall to 4-8 with a 5.29 ERA in 15 road starts, De La Rosa's home success played a big part in him earning a two-year extension worth $25 million announced earlier this week.

While De La Rosa has a 4.36 ERA in his last seven home starts versus San Diego (66-74), he's 5-0 in those games and allowed two runs in 14 innings of the last two.

After giving up three runs in six innings of a 4-2 loss at Petco Park on April 16, De La Rosa carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before he allowed his only hit, and didn't yield a run in the 3-1 home victory over the Padres exactly one month later.

Tyler Matzek tossed a three-hitter as Colorado (57-84) won for the fifth time in six home games, 3-0 on Friday. Nolan Arenado added his second homer in as many games and Charlie Blackmon had two hits with an RBI.

Blackmon is 10 for 22 with six RBIs in the last six home games versus San Diego.

He and the Rockies get their first look at San Diego's Joe Wieland, who returns from elbow surgery to make his sixth career start and first since May 6, 2012.

"It's something I've been dreaming about the last two and a half years," Wieland told MLB's official website. "I don't necessarily think it's going to feel like my (major league) debut, but I can tell you it's going to be about as close as you can get."

The right-hander, who went 0-4 with a 4.55 ERA in five starts for the Padres in 2012, went 2/3 with a 3.03 ERA in nine starts this season in stops at the Arizona rookie league, Double-A and Triple-A.

"There were a lot of times, especially this year, where I lost a lot of sleep thinking I might not make it back ever," he said.

Pitching hasn't totally been the problem -- San Diego has been outscored 14-2 in the last three games. Abraham Almonte had two of the three hits Friday for the Padres, who have been shut out a NL-high 17 times.

Almonte, though, is 6 for 11 in four games versus Colorado this season.

The Padres' latest defeat came hours after injured shortstop Everth Cabrera was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of marijuana.
