The Boston Red Sox have a chance to end a difficult road trip with success, and Rubby De La Rosa will try to help by returning to the form he showed in his first start this season.

The Red Sox look to register their only set of back-to-back victories on their nine-game trek Wednesday night against the Baltimore Orioles.

Boston (29-35) was 1-6 on its trip after a 4-0 loss in Monday's opener at Camden Yards but rebounded with a 1-0 victory Tuesday. The Red Sox limited Baltimore (32-31) to two hits, and Mike Napoli's two-out single in the third inning drove in the lone run.

Boston was previously 0-18 this season when scoring fewer than three runs.

The Orioles still have Manny Machado in the lineup after the third baseman appealed his five-game suspension for tossing a bat in Sunday's 11-1 loss to Oakland. Machado, whose averaged dropped to .222 after going 0 for 4 Tuesday, is hitless in 14 at-bats over his last four games.

"I don't want to be down for five days," Machado said. "We're just going to go ahead and get that down, and that's it. Need to try to help out this team in any way."

De La Rosa (1-1, 2.84 ERA) will try to further those struggles while bouncing back from a lackluster outing in Friday's 6-2 loss in Detroit. In his second start since being called up from the minors, the right-hander gave up four runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings.

By contrast, De La Rosa was dominant in his season debut, a 7-1 win against Tampa Bay on May 31, tossing seven scoreless innings and striking out eight.

"I feel almost 100 percent like last time," De La Rosa said Friday. "I just missed more pitches."

His first start against Baltimore could be one of his final ones for Boston in the near future. Felix Doubront is on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Pawtucket, and Clay Buchholz begins his there Friday.

Baltimore's Wei-Yin Chen (6-2, 4.13) will try to continue a strong start to this month in Wednesday's series finale. He's 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in his two outings in June but didn't get enough help from the Orioles' bullpen to earn a win Friday against Oakland.

Chen gave up two solo homers and three others hits in 6 1/3 innings. The Athletics, though, scored the tying run in the eighth en route to a 4-3 victory in 11 innings.

Chen is 1-1 with a 5.91 ERA in two starts against Boston this season. He gave up four runs and a season-high 12 hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 4-3 home loss to the Red Sox on April 3.

He also allowed three runs and four hits in five innings in a 7-6 victory at Fenway Park on April 21.

David Ortiz went 4 for 5 against the left-hander in those two games while Brock Holt, batting .413 during a career-high 10-game hit streak, was 0 for 2.
