    Dodgers-Giants Preview

If the Los Angeles Dodgers are to continue their current surge, they might have to do it without one of their key players.

The Dodgers could be minus outfielder Matt Kemp when they try to hand the host San Francisco Giants a fifth straight loss Saturday night.

Juan Uribe came a single shy of the cycle and matched a career high with seven RBIs as Los Angeles (41-44) rolled to a 10-2 win at San Francisco on Friday. The Dodgers have recorded at least 13 hits in five straight games and averaged 5.5 runs while winning 11 of 13.

After losing five straight in the series, Los Angeles has won four in a row over a San Francisco team that's totaled 28 runs while dropping 12 of 14.

"We're getting tested," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Hopefully you get stronger when you're tested."

The Giants (39-46) might not have to worry about Kemp after he irritated his left shoulder Friday, but not in the area that was surgically repaired. Though he's batting .254, Kemp was 6 for 19 (.316) with two of his four homers and six RBIs in four games prior to the opener.

"I don't ever want to get used to getting hurt," he said. "It could have been worse. I felt something weird in my shoulder that scared me. It hurt worse than running into the wall."

With Kemp day to day, Carl Crawford could see more time after his return Friday from missing more than a month with a hamstring injury.

Kemp, however, is not the only Dodger playing well at the moment.

Hanley Ramirez is batting.492 with 17 RBIs during a 16-game hitting streak and star rookie Yasiel Puig .420 with eight homers and 19 RBIs in 30 career games.

Uribe is 8 for 17 with two homers and 12 RBIs in his last four road contests. He's hit .474 (9 for 19) in his last five against the Giants.

"Every opportunity they gave me, I want to help the team," Uribe said.

Los Angeles looks to stay hot against scheduled San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner (8-5, 3.08 ERA), who is in the midst of a stretch where he's 4-1 with a 2.18 ERA. He gave up a homer and three other hits in seven innings of a 5-2 win at Colorado on Sunday.

"Bumgarner has been consistent all year," Bochy said. "He's been consistent in every start. He's a special talent."

The left-hander's lone blemish in the last five starts came during a 3-1 loss at Los Angeles on June 24, when he allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings. Puig went 2 for 3 with a homer off him.

Bumgarner, who threw 16 straight scoreless innings against the Dodgers prior to last week's start, is 6-3 with a 2.54 ERA in nine starts versus the NL West rival.

He's also 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in his last three home starts overall.

The Dodgers counter with right-hander Stephen Fife (3-2, 2.83), who allowed four hits in seven scoreless innings of a 6-1 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday.

Fife, 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two career starts versus San Francisco, allowed three runs, including homers to Buster Posey and Brandon Belt, in 6 2/3 innings of a 6-5 win over the Giants on June 25.

Posey is 0 for 11 in July after he went 11 for 22 with four homers and six RBIs in the final six games of June.
