Kentucky survives Alabama with a 79-74 win to advance to Sunday's SEC tournament title game. Kentucky has won 29 SEC tournament titles and will seeking its third straight tournament title tomorrow. Having guards De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk score 28 and 20, respectively, was huge for the Wildcats, as was keeping Alabama's Braxton Key to just 11 points on 4 of 15 shooting.

What really fueled Kentucky's run in the first half was the return of the really good Malik Monk we are used to seeing. After totaling just 8 points in his previous two games, Monk scored 13 and hit two 3s in the first half. On the other side Kentucky has kept Braxton Key in check. He has just 2 points after scoring 21 the last time these two met.

Very entertaining first half of basketball between Kentucky and Alabama. The Wildcats lead 33-32, thanks to a 19-3 run after trailing 17-7 early. Alabama has been very physical in the paint, winning the rebound battle 19-14 and outscoring Kentucky 18-14 in the paint. Kentucky is shooting 57% from the field but just 46% from the free throw line (6-13).

Kentucky's Malik Monk crossed double-digit points in the first half against Alabama. He entered the game with 8 total points in his last two games. Monk heating up is a bad sign for an Alabama team looking for a Saturday shocker in Nashville

Alabama has lost six straight to Kentucky and is 2-14 against the Wildcats in the SEC tournament. Alabama is very much on the outside of the NCAA tournament so it's win out or miss out
