That's a good win for Temple and Fran Dunphy, who could make some noise in the American race this season. Shizz Alston Jr. and Co. outplayed a Badgers team that missed an opportunity to steal a solid road win, a win the Badgers needed.

Can't overstate the significance of this game for Wisconsin (No. 6 in strength of schedule, per BPI), which has a resume that's featured impressive challenges but no impressive wins. A road win at a top-50ish Temple would help. If the Badgers lose, they'll be searching for every meaningful win in a lukewarm Big Ten. No real test until their road game at Purdue on Jan. 16.

I disagree with the Flagrant 1 that was called on Brevin Pritzl for an inadvertent elbow against Josh Brown in this Temple-Wisconsin game. Yes, he hit him with an elbow but no malice. Just a guy trying to get around a defender. Pivotal call. Not sure this crew got it right.

State of the conferences: Big Ten

As the 2017-18 college basketball season gets underway, let's pause to consider the status of each major conference. Right now, the Big Ten looks underwhelming.

Picking every game in this year's Big Ten/ACC Challenge

Overall, it might look pretty close, with the ACC and Big Ten both filled with good teams (and even a few elite ones). But go game by game and things do not look good for the Big Ten.

No. 25 Baylor blows most of big lead, beats Wisconsin 70-65

Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. had 19 points and 10 rebounds, Manu Lecomte poured in 25 points and No. 25 Baylor held on after blowing most of a 19-point lead to beat Wisconsin 70-65 on Monday night in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Classic.

Michigan used its third timeout with more than two minutes to go in the first quarter while struggling to get off a play in the Wildcat formation. That No. 1-rated Badger defense is confusing the young Wolverines before the snap.
