Post NBA draft deadline Way-Too-Early Top 25: Texas

We're not sure about where we ranked the Longhorns, but we found it hard to leave Texas out of the mix entirely after Shaka Smart secured the services of Mohamed Bamba.

Draft decisions winners/losers: Texas

Shaka Smart lost Jarrett Allen after only one season in Austin, but he'll replace the big man with an upgrade.

ESPN Stats and Information

With Wednesday's deadline for players to remove their names from the NBA draft approaching, Purdue, UNC, Michigan and UCLA stand to be the most impacted by upcoming decisions.

Big few days for Texas. First Mohamed Bamba commits and then Andrew Jones returns. The key next season could be Tulane transfer Dylan Osetkowski, who will start in the frontcourt alongside Bamba. Can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end.

How Mohamed Bamba changes everything for Texas

The No. 3 recruit opted not for Duke or Kentucky but for Texas. His arrival changes expectations for the Longhorns -- and coach Shaka Smart. In Year 3 at Texas, Smart has all the pieces to deliver.

Espn No.3 Mo Bamba to Texas is a major get for Shaka Smart. Espn 100 PG Matt Coleman gives the Longhorns what they desperately need which is a true PG. Add a pair of top 100 forwards in Royce Hamm and Jericho Sims. Now with Mo Bamaba they have elite rim protection and a game changer on the defensive end.

When you look at the Texas roster for next year the pieces are their to score, defend and rebound. The question will be their outside shooting. Last year the Longhorns shot 29% from 3. Tevin Mack was at 39% and he has now transferred. Keep an eye on SG Jase Febres from Houston to help the cause from distance.

Bamba chooses to attend Texas over Kentucky

Mohamed Bamba, ranked No. 3 in the ESPN 100, announced on The Players' Tribune on Thursday that he has chosen to attend Texas next season over Kentucky.

Absolutely huge pickup for Shaka Smart. Spent a lot of time recruiting Bamba, didn't back off when the blue bloods made their move. Combines with ESPN 100 point guard Matt Coleman, Tulane transfer Dylan Osetkowski and potentially Andrew Jones.

Stay in school, or enter draft?

Andrew Jones needs to become a more consistent shooter from deep before turning pro. He'll have a true PG next season in Matt Coleman, who could get him better looks.

Four-star forward Sidney Wilson told ESPN he begins a visit to UConn tonight and will visit St. John's on Sunday. Texas, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Florida also on his list. Recently announced he plans to reclassify back into the 2017 class.
