The Houston Cougars will pay tribute to those affected by Hurricane Harvey by replacing the nameplate on their jerseys with a "Houston" patch for Saturday's game against fellow Bayou City school Rice.

Houston gets NCAA OK to aid Harvey victims

University of Houston officials have been granted a special waiver by the NCAA to begin distributing donated T-shirts and shoes to people affected by Hurricane Harvey. Cougars men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson started the campaign on Twitter.

Houston basketball coach Kelvin Sampson estimated Monday that the T-shirt and shoe donation drive that he started on Twitter for Hurricane Harvey victims last week will bring in a projected 125,000 T-shirts and 20,000 pairs of shoes donated from other colleges.

The Los Angeles Lakers will host Houston G Damyean Dotson, Baylor F Johnathan Motley, SMU F Semi Ojeleye, BYU G L.J. Rose and South Carolina guards PJ Dozier and Sindarius Thornwell for a pre-draft workout on Friday.

The Raptors will host six players for pre-draft workouts on Tuesday in F Caleb Swanigan (Purdue), PG Nate Britt (North Carolina), G Scoochie Smith (Dayton), PG Austin Nichols (Virginia), SG Damyean Dotson (Houston) and SG Antonius Cleveland (SE Missouri). The Raptors hold the 23rd pick in the June 22nd NBA draft.

The Magic will be holding a pre-draft workout on Tuesday, with Purdue big man Caleb Swanigan and Cal big man Ivan Rabb headlining the participants, per the Orlando Sentinel. Villanova guard Josh Hart and Houston guard Damyean Dotson are also scheduled to be in attendance. Orlando currently has four selections (6th, 25th, 33rd and 35th) in June's draft.
