Purdue, Notre Dame add 4 future games

Longtime rivals Purdue and Notre Dame had already agreed to two future games but have added four more future games to the schedule. The schools will alternate games at Notre Dame Stadium (2021, 2025, and 2027) and Ross-Ade Stadium (2024, 2026, and 2028).

Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick wants to schedule a Big Ten team every year to enhance ND's Playoff profile. The Wisconsin games fill the gaps in 2020 and 2021. Notre Dame faces Michigan and Northwestern next year. Irish face Ohio State in 2022 and 2023.

Wisconsin and Notre Dame formally announce games at Lambeau Field in Green Bay (2020) and Soldier Field in Chicago (2021). Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez said the games have been in the works for several years. He told me last year's Wisconsin-LSU game at Lambeau was "like a Packers game on steroids."

Kevin Austin has committed to Notre Dame, becoming the Irish's top-rated offensive recruit, and the Florida wideout could make an impact early on.

ESPN 300 wide receiver Kevin Austin committed to Notre Dame on Friday. The No. 90 ranked prospect gives the Irish six ESPN 300 commits in the 2018 class, four of which are offensive prospects. Austin is a Florida native and is the second highest ranked commitment in the class behind safety Derrik Allen, who is ranked 77 overall.

Ara Parseghian was one of the most successful head coaches in Notre Dame history. He made an immediate impact on a program that had fallen on hard times in the early 60s, improving the team from 2-7 in 1963 to 9-1 in '64, his first year at the helm.

The late Ara Parseghian coached Northwestern to a 35-6 victory over Notre Dame before a record 55,752 fans at Dyche Stadium in Evanston, 11/5/62, that elevated the Wildcats to the # 1 ranking in the country. They finished the season 7-2, their best record since 8-2 in 1948 and until 10-2 in '95.
