Ravens open as one-point underdogs against Bengals in season opener

The Baltimore Ravens have lost the last five years in Cincinnati by an average of 10.2 points.

The Las Vegas oddsmakers believe it will be a closer game this time.

The Ravens have been installed as one-point underdogs against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 by the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. All Week 1 lines were set after the NFL released its schedule Thursday.

Baltimore didn't fare well as underdogs last season. The Ravens were 1-6 in games where they were getting points. Of course, the line could change between now and Sept. 10 at Paul Brown Stadium.

What's favoring the Ravens is their history of strong starts. Baltimore is 6-3 in season openers since John Harbaugh became coach in 2008. Only five teams (the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles) have a better record in openers during that stretch.

In the other Week 1 AFC North game, the Pittsburgh Steelers are heavy 9.5-point favorites at the Cleveland Browns. Pittsburgh has beaten Cleveland in eight of the last nine meetings, winning by double digits six times.
